Tips to prepare for Storm Eowyn..
Dear Clients,
As you will be aware, Met Eireann have issued several weather warnings, including a Status Red warning for many counties in advance of #StormEowyn which is forecast to bring high winds and rain across much of the country. We want to ensure that your customers are prepared for the bad weather and stay safe so we’ve pulled tips together that you can share with them. With Status Red warnings in place, your customers should observe all safety advice coming from state agencies.
Home Protection Tips
Clear gutters: Remove any debris from gutters to prevent blockages and potential water damage from melting ice or snow.
Secure the garden: Put away garden furniture, loose items and secure any gates.
Get ready for loss of power: Prepare for possible loss of utilities by making sure you have candles and/or torches.
Check on holiday homes: If you have a holiday home, it may be some time since you’ve visited it! Only if it is safe to travel, check your property in advance of the bad conditions.
Tips for driving in stormy weather
Check tyres: Ensure your tyres are properly inflated and have adequate tread depth to handle icy roads safely.
Flooded roads: If a road is flooded, it is best to find an alternative route. However if you do drive through water, do so slowly and steadily: Enter the water at 5-10 km/h to avoid creating waves that could flood your engine.
Fallen debris: Be careful and watch out for any fallen debris or other obstacles on the road.
Emergency kit: Keep an emergency kit in your car, including items like a blanket, torch, and first-aid supplies, in case of unexpected delays.
